Gee Whiz, Batman!

January 30, 2006

Catwoman: “Let noone say that Catwoman is not the best-dressed woman in the world.”

Batman: “There are no fashion shows where you’re going, Catwoman.”

Robin: “And how could a feline feloness like you also be a fashion model?”

Batman: “Ah-ah. Give credit where credit is due, Robin. She may be evil, but she is attractive. You’ll know more about that in a couple of years.”

HOME TEAM IN CAPS

Pittsburgh (+3) over DENVER
I got a bad feeling about this, Chewie. Actually, I just hate the Steelers, but I think they’ve got a better team than the Broncos, and that’s not the sore loser talking. Their defense is better, Roethlisberger is slightly more trustable than Plummer, Ward is better than Lelie, and… waitaminute… Cowher is not better than Shanahan, though. Hmm… I guess I’ll take the +3… then, I can get a push if it’s as close as I think it’ll be. I still think the Pats on any other week could beat either of these teams, though, and that is the sore loser talking.

Carolina (+4.5) over SEATTLE
I TOLD YOU CAROLINA WAS GONNA WIN IT ALL! I NEVER GAVE UP ON EM, NEVER!

Welcome To Pizza-Land

January 19, 2006

A-Rod’s playing for the US, which is great, because I intended on rooting for the Domenican Republic, and A-Rod playing for the US means (1) I don’t have to feel bad about rooting against the US now and (2) the D-R can win now that A-Rod’s poison is off the roster.

Went 2-2 on the weekend, 3-4 on the playoffs. Not great. I wasn’t too pleased with the Pats game, even if they could’ve won despite their shitty play if the refs got a few calls right and Kevin Faulk didn’t fucking fumble that ball. The Colts game was fantastic to watch, though. I’ve been chatting on the Wrestlecrap forums, I’ve been letting fly with my sports jazz. Here was one about why I don’t like the Colts.

As a bitter sore loser and Pats fan, I rooted against the Colts today. The thing is, I don’t mind Peyton Manning at all. I actually kinda like the guy. What I don’t like about the Colts is how they get crowned SB champs every year before the playoffs even start, and yet no one seems to learn. Even the members of the Boston media are convinced the Colts are the better team. And while it’s hard to argue the regular season records (and on-paper talent), they just never seem to change their ship.

(In response to a member named Slickness saying the Colts are the new pre-2004 Red Sox…) Slickness is right. The Colts are the new Sox. The difference, though, is that the media will keep treating them like the Yankees. So, in other words, I don’t mind the Colts at all, but I hate the media’s image of them, so I root against them to spite the media. Does that make any sense? How is it any different than with the Pats? Well, outside of Brady, the national media isn’t too crazy about the Pats, at least compared to other dynasties of the past. Part of it is because they never say anything controversial (if anything at all), and their coach pisses off a lot of reporters with his demeanor. I’m not going to pretend the Pats didn’t get any respect this year (everyone in the country outside of Colorado thought they’d win this week), but it’s not nearly on the ass-kissing scale of the Colts.

I wrote another one later on in response to someone saying Pats fans and Yankee fans are the same with their arrogance.

I think there’s a huge difference between Yankee fans and Pats fans. The Yankee fans kind of look at themselves as the pantheon of gods, and the Yankees are gifts to them. They declare certain gifts unworthy (A-Rod) and aren’t pleased when they don’t get what they want (championships). They believe that things are the way they are because of divine providence (the Curse of the Bambino).

Patriot fans are like the religious zealots. To us, Belichick, Brady, Vinatieri and Bruschi are all gods, and we need to spread the word of our gods mercilessly. Because we had 35 years of pure crap followed 5 years of underachieving from Bledsoe capped by Parcells skipping town and being blessed by the infinite genius of Pete Carroll, we were kind of grasping for straws. Then King Belichick came along, Mo Lewis impregnated the Virgin Mary and she gave birth to Tom Brady. We were the untouchables for so long that we now appreciate our luck and good fortune, so we need to tell everyone and get them to convert. We’re really no different than those crazy people handing out leaflets about repenting and finding Jesus before it’s too late. When they lose, we don’t complain, because maybe God was trying to tell us to not take anything for granted.

So yeah… that’s how lazy I’ve gotten. I’m posting my BBS posts instead of writing new ones.

All aboard the Pain Train! Whoo Whoooo!

January 14, 2006

Been playing a lot of Mario Baseball and a little bit of Mario Strikers. The babe-ification of Peach has been an unexpected but welcome surprise, at least in my book. I’m not a big fan of Daisy, but she’s like David Ortiz in that game though; you can’t get her out when you need to most. Fun game. Still haven’t touched Wind Waker, but I will soon.

I went 1-3 last week, which isn’t very perfect at all, but it was a little screwy week. That being said, here’s the new generation of football picks. Now with more attitude than ever.

HOME TEAM IN caps

SEATTLE (-9.5) over Washington
The line seems a tad too high, and I’ve been busted a lot betting against the Skins, but everyone is going crazy about how much the Hawks will kick their asses, so I feel compelled to listen.

New England (+3) over DENVER
Denver manhandled the Pats last time they played, but last time, the Pats had Duane Starks. Now he’s gone, and they’re a much better team.

Pittsburgh (-9.5) over INDIANAPOLIS
Remember what I said about popular opinion for the Hawks/Skins game? Out the window. Just like the regular season, I will continue to bet against the Colts, because I hate them.

CHICAGO (-3) over Carolina
Gasp! But Anthony! You picked Carolina to win the Super Bowl! Yeah, but that was before they collapsed and the Pats used a Phoenix Down.

The Path to Perfection

January 7, 2006

There’s only one Mr. Perfect, and you’re lookin’ at him.

Or so I hope.

If I can go perfect in the playoffs, that’d be noice.

Home Team in CAPS

TAMPA BAY (-2) over Washington
This really could go either way, but Tampa has a slight advantage with playoff experience and home field.

Jacksonville (+8) over NEW ENGLAND
Pats win, but it’ll be close.

Carolina (+2) over NY GIANTS
Why couldn’t this be 3? Anyway, I think Fox is determined enough to get the win, and NY’s offense has been kinda inconsistent the second half of the season.

CINCINNATI (+3) over Pittsburgh
That’s better. I don’t think the Steelers have it this year. Of course, they didn’t have it last year, either, but they had more of it than this year. Yes, it makes sense, idiot.

Hmm…

Note to self; whenever you write a huge essay about a prediction, you will be wrong.

Nobattatol

January 3, 2006

6-8-2 on the week. Not very good.

Final Record: 57-46-6. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Unfortunately, It’s not fantastic. If I bet $10 on every game, and every pick had 2 to 1 odds, I’d spend a total of $1,090. I’d make back $2000. My total income? $110. Not too great.

Still, Simmons struggles to stay above .500, so I at least beat him. Hooray.

Now for the playoffs, where if I wasn’t such a homer, I might have a shot of going perfect. Unfortunately, I’m going to pick the Pats until they lose. Non-betting predictions in a few days.

Just a thought…

January 1, 2006

You know how in owner mode and GM modes in video games, there’s things you could do like a free hotdog night or PPV promo and stuff like that? And you try to get higher ratings and attendance and shit, but no one comes, so you try the same gimmicks over and over again? I think whoever’s running Ashlee Simpson’s publicity is doing that. I mean, the bitch has been on the cover of Cosmo like 28 times, the exact same picture over and over again. And they plaster her image all over the place and show her face everywhere. Don’t they realize no-one’s interested in her? She’s significantly less attractive than her sister, she’s not very talented, and no one’s buying the punk gimmick. Just get her off my TV.

Lazy Sunday

January 1, 2006

I can’t wait for the playoffs, then I don’t have to pick games like Houston/San Francisco.

Home team in CAPS

NEW ENGLAND (-6) over Miami
Not sure why I’m confident in this… but I am.

NY JETS (+2) over Buffalo
I’ll give the Jets credit. They do suck, but at least they didn’t give up on the season like the Raiders.

TAMPA BAY (-14) over New Orleans
I’ll be wrong on this, but whatevuh.

Carolina (-4) over ATLANTA
Ah sho hope the Panthers make the playoffs after I predicted they’d win the whole damn thing.

Baltimore (-3) over CLEVELAND
The Ravens have surprised me in the second half. Even the fact that Billick is coming back is amazing. And while I love Romeo, I might as well give them the benefit.

Seattle (+5) over GREEN BAY
I assume the Seattle bench is reasonably good.

INDIANAPOLIS (-7) over Arizona
An emotional win to end the season. Unfortunately, I think they’re damaged goods in the playoffs. Okay, probably not, but I can dream.

Cincinatti (+8) over KANSAS CITY
These lines are all strange. A lot of better teams are underdogs against playoff hopefuls. Odd.

PITTSBURGH (-14) over Detroit
Seems to big. Oh well.

JACKSONVILLE (-4) over Tennessee
It’s a no-brainer!

SAN FRANCISCO (+2) over Houston
The Reggie Bush Championship game, although San Fran could use him a little more than Houston. Houston’s got too many problems.

Washington (-8) over PHILADELPHIA
The Philly crowds will be so hostile, it’ll be like a home game for the Skins.

Chicago (+4) over MINNESOTA
Another underdog who can kick the favorite’s ass. Odd.

DALLAS (-12) over St. Louis
Normally I’d bet against the Cowboys, since they’ve self destructed amazingly (although not quite unexpectedly) over the last month, but I’ve also bet on the Rams too many times to fall for that one.
